Bateman will decide by Friday

State Sen. Christopher Bateman is leaning toward entering the U.S. Senate race and will make a final decision by Friday, according to sources close to the Somerset County legislator.  Bateman’s father, former Senate President (and 1977 GOP gubernatorial candidate) Raymond Bateman, returned from his vacation today and is working with Somerset County Republican Chairman Dale Florio to determine whether the campaign can raise enough money to compete in the June primary, and against Democratic incumbent Frank Lautenberg in the general election.

Probably should check the

Probably should check the status of his Emperor Club account first.

Don't hold your breath

I'll bet ya 10 bucks he doesn't do it.

GCREC convention is Saturday

Since there are only a handful of conventions still to be held, it would make sense to announce in time to enter the Gloucester County convention. Granted, Gloucester isn't a Republican powerhouse, but the line in any County is important in a Republican Primary. We are looking to hear from any inerested candidate by end of day Wednesday.

Dont skip Kip

A lot of people dont seem to want Jersey Joe as the frontrunner from the State Senate, of course I rather have an economic expert than a State Senator any day.

Hey Red Bank...

If you're going to say something like that...you know, slanderous if untrue...then have the sack to put your name on it so you can be held liable.

No slander, just satire. In

No slander, just satire.

In this environment, personal behavior will be under the microscope, no?

DADDY WHAT SHOULD I DO????

These little RINOs are all the same.  Whether its Kippy Bateman or Kate Whitman.  Its time to allow a real Republican – Jersey Joe – to pick up the mantle and take it to the Democrats.  Joe doesn't need to ask his Mommy what to do.  If another RINO gets in this race, the conservative base will make them wish they never even considered it.

Not sure what logic is being

Not sure what logic is being followed when one thinks Jersey Joe is somehow less attractive a candidate for republicans than Kip "I voted for taxpayer-funded needles for junkies" Bateman.

Bateman is a Democrat Dream

Just what we need, a candiate from the Democrat wing of the Repbulican Party. Bateman is just being recruited by the Whitmanites and with a two-way split of the Republican Wing, Whitman might have a chance to get her candidate nominated. Even though she can't get him elected, she does not want to give any Republicans a chance at success so she can continue the lie that conservatives can't win.

Whitman still thinks it her party, too. Not!!

"Every citizen should be a soldier. This was the case with the Greeks and Romans, and must be that of every free state." - Thomas Jefferson

Kip already has the NY Times endorsement

I find it funny that the "establishment" put up Estalurch because they didn't want to pay for a Quixote run against Frank or whoever.

Now that the polling is better, they are willing to put in a candidate who needs money.  Excluding Murray's late entry, none of the NAMES were interested at end of last year.

The Times' editorial Sunday once again misreads the situation.  This isn't a conservative v moderate (whatever) fight.  It is the blue collar v white collar.  The urban GOP has been shafted enough by the suburban lawyers.  It may be that Jersey Joe's name ends in a vowel.  He is appealing to the voters that have endings such as , A,E,I,O,U,W and Y.

I can't take this suspence anymore!

Please, somebody let me know is he in or out?
