Martha Bark will not seek re-election to the State Senate. The 75-year-old Burlington County Republican will announce early next year that 2007 will be her last year in office. The Philadelphia Inquirer is reporting today that an ethics probe into allegedly no-show jobs held by Bark has been expaned to include a $5 million Delaware River Port Authority grant for a project that "employed Bark as a consultant." The GOP is anxious to avoid placing the heavily Republican 8th district into play.

More importantly, with Dems winning in Burlco, how many people will enter the GOP primary - and will there be an open convention of the county committee to pick the party's designee?

Jerseymap makes it sound like the Dems took over County Government in Burlington County. At last look, the Freeholder Board is still 5-0 and the 8th Leg. Dist. is probably the fourth or fifth most Republican district in State.

it's a solid GOP district, any Dem hope goes out the window if Bark isn't on the ballot.
Not sure who is in the farm system in that area.

The dems won the surrogate's race, came very close in freeholder, swept through Pemberton, and won seats in Moorestown and Mount laurel. True, it was a democratic year, but the great Burlco GOP machine has not been so awe inspiring recently. I simply think there will be a primary in the 8th.

The BURLCO GOP is the Titanic and Captain Warner is heading straight for an iceberg.
Chairman Warner is in way over his head and the rumor is that the rank and file is already looking to replace him. He now has to deal with possible indiments, finding Vince a pension padding job somewhere in county government, keeping open seats in the county and legislative races next year, keeping control in Evesham and West Hampton, holding onto to the mayors seat in Burlington City, and trying to find a way to slow down Rick Perr. The Chairman should be toast by the end of 2007!!
What did Dick Perr do? How much money did he raise? Nothing!
What did Dick Perr do? How much money did he raise? Nothing!
I applaud the efforts of the Republican organization for winning big in Beverly, Springfield the Freeholders and other races. When one looks at what happened state-wide – loses in Monmouth, Atlantic, Morris, and other “Republican counties, Burlington did exceptional. This was an anti-Republican year across the state and the country. Regarding the Surrogate, that lose can be put squarely on the shoulders of Vince Farias. Vince sat on his butt believing this was his entitlement.
No doubt Dick Perr will try to claim this as his success. But he and the rank and file D’s know he did not lift a finger to win in Burlco. This was a bad year to be a Republican in NJ and the US and Burlco R’s suffered as well. Had Vince saw fit to show up for campaign events, we would not even be having this discussion.
Mike Warner has successfully led troops in battle and did as well as could be expected during a tough Republican year. 2007 will be an entirely different year with new candidates and a very strong anti-Cozine tax year. Next year will be a good year for R’s and the neophyte believers in the self-promoting Dick Perr will know that he is simply the bastard offspring of the Camden County Machine.

Stop using my name in vain!! I'm too busy influence peddling for my new employer, United Communities. By the way, North Hanover, thanks for bowing to my demands. I told you I would support you if you passed that resolution for UC.
Wait, what's that sound? Oh, no! The same feds investigating Glenn and Martha are at my door. Gotta go.
the "rank and file" have no interest in replacing the colonel.
the "rank and file" have no interest in replacing the colonel. Dick Perr will NEVER win another seat in this county again! It was a fluke!
