In recent days reports have surfaced that Democratic Ridgewood Mayor Paul Aronsohn and Republican Bergen County Executive Kathe Donovan want to fire the same guy from two different jobs.
The object of their ire is Ken Gabbert, who serves as both Ridgewood Village Manager and a part-time commissioner with the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority.
A story in the Ridgewood Glen Rock Patch yesterday quoted anonymous sources saying the council majority, led by Aronsohn, plans to call on Gabbert to resign from his post as Village Manager.
According to the story there has been bad blood between Aronsohn and Gabbert over several issues that have arisen since Gabbert came aboard in 2009.
For her part, Donovan wants to give Gabbert the boot because he has been receiving a stipend and health benefits as a part time utility commissioner. The same paper reported today that Gabbert supported Donovan's opposition to the perks but now collects them himself.
Donovan tried to veto minutes of the authority but was overridden by the Freeholder Board. The paper quoted Donovan-spokeswoman Jeanne Baratta saying the executive will explore ways to remove Gabbert from the authority.
According to a source, today Donovan called on Gabbert to resign.
