President Barack Obama will be traveling to the New York area Thursday to survey storm damage from Hurricane Sandy, the White House announced Friday.
Obama is slated to travel to the New York City area, White House press secretary Jay Carney told reporters during an afternoon news briefing.
The president’s visit to the Empire State comes after much has been made in the days leading up to the recent election about Gov. Chris Christie’s praise of Obama’s response to the storm.
Carney made no mention whether the president had plans to make stops in the Garden State, where he visited shortly after the storm slammed into the Jersey coast.
