Beaten in back to back Bergen County election cycles, the GOP wants to take advantage of Gov. Chris Christie atop the ticket next year to regain the advantage. The party is especially interested in competing against state Sen. Robert Gordon (D-38).
There are several names circulating as possible challengers.
Former Freeholder John Driscroll, former Assemblyman Guy Talarico, Fair Lawn Deputy Mayor John Cosgrove and 2011 Assembly candidate Fernando Alonso.
President Barack Obama will return to New Jersey next week to tour the Jersey Shore with Gov. Chris Christie.
