Wayne, NJ – May 22, 2009. West Milford Council Candidate and Peter Murphy ally, Mike Ramaglia, is the subject of two election law violation complaints. The latest complaint filed with NJ ELEC asks that Ramaglia be investigated for violations of NJ Election Law involving his positions as chairman of the Passaic County Regular Young Republican Organization PAC and as Co-Chair and Treasurer of GOP Strong PAC, while having a candidate’s account.
NJ Election Law prohibits a candidate from having a candidate’s account and being significantly involved in a continuing political committee, such as a PAC. “In this position Mike Ramaglia has been in clear violation of the law for more than two months, yet he continues to thumb his nose at the law,” said Mark Semeraro, Counsel to the PCRRO.The previous complaint against Ramaglia involves Peter Murphy, a Ramaglia associate, who was convicted of crimes he committed as former Chairman of the Passaic GOP. The complaint claims that Murphy gave a $15,000 contribution to the Passaic County Regular Young Republican Organization, the PAC headed by Ramaglia. The maximum allowable contribution, by law, is $7,200.
Scott Rumana, the current PCRRO Chairman said, “Murphy and his associates have engaged in a pattern of election law violations. After Murphy was forced to resign as Chairman of the organization because of his crimes, the PCRRO was fined$17,000 by ELEC to settle offenses that Murphy caused while Chairman. ”
“Peter Murphy is running a behind–the scenes campaign to control the Passaic GOP through his surrogates like Ramagllia and others,” said Semeraro. “They continuously participate in a process with a total disregard of the law. One must wonder how they would govern, if elected.”
