RELEASE: Immediate, CONTACT: Keith Davis

Atlantic County Republican Chairman Keith Davis today announced the county committee will distribute “Where Was Whelan? bumper stickers to anyone who wants one in recognition of Assemblyman Jim Whelan’s “total failure to play any role in avoiding the state-ordered shutdown of the casino industry.
“When he ran for the Assembly last year, Whelan asked for support because he was a Democrat who could work with his party’s legislative leadership and governor to serve the best interests of Atlantic County, Davis said. “But, when faced with the opportunity to fulfill his campaign promise, he failed miserably.
“People in this county have a right to ask: Where was Whelan? Davis said. “Where was he when the largest employer in the county and the entire region was ordered to close its doors at the height of the tourist season? Where was he when the state lost $1.3 million a day in tax revenue to support programs for the senior citizens and disabled? Where was he when hard working men and woman were told they were suddenly unemployed through no fault of their own but because Jim Whelan and his colleagues in Trenton were locked in a political struggle at the expense of their livelihoods?
“Whelan failed the citizens and taxpayers of this district, Davis said. “His pledge to work with his party at the state level to protect the people of Atlantic County has been shown to be as empty as the casino floor last Wednesday morning.
Davis said the “Where Was Whelan? bumper stickers can be obtained free by calling the county committee office at 609-677-0707, or by visiting the committee’s website, www.acrepublicans.org.
