DEMOCRATIC CHAIRMAN TO GORMLEY: "MAKE MY DAY"
Ruff Challenges "Rent-a-Senator" to stand up for taxpayers for once and reject sales tax hike
(Linwood, NJ) – The new Atlantic County Democratic Chairman Ron Ruff issued the following statement in response to yesterday's Atlantic City press article in which State Senator William Gormley said he was considering voting for a budget that would increase the state sales:
"The people of Atlantic County are literally being taxed out of their homes and yet Senator Gormley is once again selling his vote to benefit his personal agenda. His interests just aren’t ours."
"Time after time this Senator has sold his vote and stuck it to taxpayersvoting to raise taxes, increase spending, and debt. Perhaps Senator Gormley ought to go into the Shore Diner or walk through the local Shoprite and ask the average person whether increasing the sales tax is in their interest."
"Gormley needs to spend less time playing inside games with the Trenton crowd and more time worrying about the needs of people who are struggling to pay the bills."
"I am challenging this Senator to do the right thing for Atlantic County taxpayers and reject a budget that will increase the sales tax on our families."
