DAY 5 – NEW JERSEY HELD HOSTAGE!

DEMOCRAT BUDGET BUNGLING COSTS STATE MILLIONS

CASINOS, LOTTERY, DMV AND STATE PARKS SHUT DOWN

CORZINE-NORCROSS 'ROCK FIGHT' CONTINUES

Assemblyman Richard Merkt today said that as New Jersey's budget crisis hits its fifth day the negative impact of the government shutdown on New Jersey taxpayers and on the state economy continues to grow.

"Democrats have managed to do what even the September 11 terrorist attacks did not – shut down the casinos," said Merkt, R-Morris. "New Jersey's treasury loses millions every day the state shutdown continues, in an unbelievable display of arrogance and budget bungling by Democrat political bosses."

"The question is can Governor Corzine and Speaker Roberts, or George Norcross, take their rock fight outside and leave New Jersey taxpayers in peace," Merkt asked. "It appears that Democrat rule has only brought incompetence, stalemate and chaos."

Republican response to everything: 911 attacks! Terrorists!

This is a serious issue, Mr. Merkt, not an opportunity to grandstand on terrorism. You Republicans whine about Democratic bossism, and then when Corzine has the guts to take on a boss you see it as an opportunity.

And the most embarassing thing is that you are most concerned with the casinos being closed. What about the people who need to get a drivers license? Or who want to go to a beach on their week off? Or who need help finding medication for their parents? Or who own small businesses that are losing revenue because state offices are closed?

No, all you care about is gambling and using 911 for political attacks.

Sick.

NJWatcher & Fed Up - you just can't stand facing your own incompetence, can you?

Well, here's a message for you two.

This is a serious matter.

And sits squarely at the feet of a Governor who publicly assured everyone at the beginning of this budget process that he was going to personally negotiate the Budget. He did so against the advice of people on both sides of the aisle. And he has now failed miserably -- the government is broken.

Over time, the foundation for that failure was brought about by the incompetence and failure of leadership of the previous Democrat Administration, the McGreevey/Codey administration.

But the current failure is this Governor's personal failure of leadership. It does not give anyone any particular pleasure to have to point that out, because it is quickly becoming an embarassment to all of us throughout the entire State.

So when you Donks all conveniently ignore the fact that you control State Government at all levels in New Jersey, and that you have for quite some time now, you have a lot of nerve sniping at Republicans! Typical!

You should get your houses in order -- you own control of both of them -- and balance the budget, or prepare to step aside and allow people who are capable to run things.
