COHEN STATEMENT ON WORLD-CLASS STEM CELL RESEARCH FACILITY GROUNDBREAKING

Lawmaker Says Facility Will Unlock Keys to Lifesaving Treatments, Boost State Economy

(TRENTON) - Assembly Deputy Speaker Neil Cohen, a prominent supporter of stem-cell research and lead Assembly sponsor of the law creating world-class stem cell research facilities in New Jersey, today issued the following statement on the groundbreaking for the Stem Cell Institute of New Jersey in New Brunswick:

"This event is further proof of New Jersey's role as a pioneer in the advance of stem-cell treatments.

"This is the first of many world-class facilities that will shine as a beacon of hope to people across New Jersey and around the world who are suffering from debilitating diseases and injuries. 

"New Jersey's facilities will have a critical role in medical discoveries that will produce cures and treatments that will radically improve the quality of life for many.

"These research facilities promise to be a prudent investment in our state, producing thousands of jobs and generating hundreds of millions in tax revenue for the state economy. 

"New Jersey's stem-cell research facilities are key to unlocking the full potential that stem-cell treatments can offer to millions of people."
