ROBERTS: CORZINE'S TOUGHNESS WILL ASSIST HIM
IN RECOVERY FROM HIT-AND RUN INJURIES
(TRENTON) - Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts Jr. today released the following statement on Governor Jon Corzine's recovery from injuries sustained in yesterday's accident caused by a hit-and-run driver:
"Toughness and tenacity are two of Governor Corzine's hallmark traits that will aid him in his recovery from the serious injuries he suffered yesterday.
"The outpouring of flowers and notes of support from the public are sure to be a source of motivation for the Governor in his recovery and are a clear indication of the fondness the public has for their Governor in his time of need. I am thankful that the Governor's assistant, Samantha Gordon, was not seriously injured and that Trooper Robert Rasinski appears to be recovering as well.
"My Assembly colleagues and I wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, law enforcement personnel, and emergency responders who have worked in response to this emergency.
"It's good to know that a capable, experienced, and honorable individual like Senate President Codey can serve as acting governor during this temporary period, and I am committed to working with both Governor Codey and Chief of Staff Tom Shea in ensuring the uninterrupted delivery of state services.
"I have been given every assurance that law enforcement authorities are working to their fullest capacity to bring the hit-and-run driver responsible for this accident to justice. I am certain that all of my legislative colleagues on both sides of the aisle will provide whatever resources are necessary to ensure that the driver responsible for the accident is captured and prosecuted."
