Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, Jr.

ROBERTS STATEMENT ON ETHICS REFORM

(TRENTON) - Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, Jr. today issued the following statement on Republican calls for a special legislative session on ethics reform:

"Yesterday's events provide a window of opportunity for this Legislature to take positive action on reform.

"Corruption is unacceptable at any level of government and all legislators share a responsibility to improve ethical standards in government.

"Corruption is not a partisan issue and neither party can claim the high road on ethical conduct.

"Ethics reform will be addressed and advanced in the next 90 days, with consideration of proposals by members from both political parties."
