ROBERTS STATEMENT ON GOVERNOR CORZINE'S
STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS
(TRENTON) -- Assembly Speaker Joseph J. Roberts, Jr., today issued the following statement on Governor Jon Corzine's first State of the State address:"Governor Corzine correctly called on all of us to put the state's common interests before our own political and local interests.
"As the Governor clearly stated, we already have a strong framework for property tax cuts that will benefit over 95 percent of New Jersey households and cap future property tax increases.
"Now we must seize the momentum and opportunity to turn these ideas into tangible results that will allow more New Jerseyans to keep their money in their pockets.
"The people are fed up with politicians promising that relief 'is just around the corner.'
"If we are successful, we can ensure that next year's State of the State address will be one filled with optimism, not the need to continue wrestling with issues that we can and should resolve this year."
