PHONE: 201-487-0001 ARIYAN SURPASSES $200,000 IN FUNDRAISING Ariyan Keeps the Momentum Alive, Hits the $200K Mark Saddle River–Wrapping up the month of June, State Senate candidate Joseph Ariyan (D-Saddle River) reported having raised more than $200,000 to date in his bid to unseat Republican Senator Gerald Cardinale. “I continue to receive a genuine outpouring of support from people throughout the district,” said Ariyan. “People are tired of stagnant representation. Whether it’s friends or people I meet on the streets of our towns while I’m campaigning, Democrats, Republicans and Independents alike are pleased that a fresh, credible challenger is fighting for new representation for our district. The people in this district want someone who will fight for our fair share from Trenton, who will preserve open space and stop the ever-increasing sprawl and congestion.” Bergen County Democratic Chairman Joseph Ferriero remarked that “Joe’s ability to raise funds is a credit to his quality as a candidate. He is passionate about the issues that matter to all of the people in District 39. People see that and want to support him.” Earlier this week, Ariyan had the honor of having former Governor and Senate President Richard J. Codey as the special guest at a fundraiser held at the home of Mayor Louis Lamatina in Emerson. At the event, Codey was joined by a number of Bergen County elected officials who stand proudly behind Ariyan’s efforts. In the past six months Ariyan has held other fundraisers featuring such guests as Congressman Frank Pallone, Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney and Bergen County Sheriff, Leo McGuire. “To have Governor Codey stand behind the campaign this early is truly a statement that we are making an impact,” said Ariyan. “He is respected, not only for his positions on issues and policy, but for the manner in which he conducts himself. He is an example for everyone in public service.” “Joe represents the best that Bergen County has to offer,” said Senate President Richard J. Codey. “He has championed equal rights from a young age and has carried that spirit with him into adulthood. With his knowledge of government and tremendous intellect, he is as formidable a candidate as the 39th District has ever seen. I’m looking forward to having Joe Ariyan join me as a colleague in the State Senate” Ariyan is part of the official Bergen County Democratic team for the 39th. He is running along side Assembly candidates, Councilwoman Esther Fletcher (D-River Edge) and Councilman Carl Manna (D-Dumont). Ariyan currently serves as the County’s Public Advocate for Land Use, Commissioner of the Northwest Bergen County Utilities Authority and is a partner at the law firm Ariyan, Khoury & Schildiner, LLP. He resides in Saddle River with his wife Susan and infant son, Joseph. ###
