“The opportunity to help those less fortunate by poking fun at myself and my experiences in government is well worth the effort in order to help those who are struggling,” said Bramnick, R-Union, Essex, Somerset and Morris. “But fighting hunger is no laughing matter. Elijah’s Promise has been a stalwart organization in the effort to provide healthy meals for those who are in need. I hope people will take the time to join me in some fun on March 18, and at the same time support a great cause.”
Based in New Brunswick, Elijah’s Promise serves two meals each day during the week and one on weekends to those who are less fortunate. More than 100,000 meals were served in the soup kitchen last year. The goal of Elijah’s Promise is to “empower lives, invite justice and alleviate hunger.” Those who are fed come from all walks of life and do not fit any demographic profile. However, the one thing all guests of Elijah’s Promise do have in common is that they never leave hungry.
“We all know someone who is having a hard time making ends meet,” continued Bramnick. “Hunger does not discriminate by political affiliation, gender or age. Helping those in need has been a fundamental principle since this country was founded and continues to this day. I hope that after celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th, people will be able to parlay the fun by joining me the next evening at Crossroads Theatre.”
Crossroads Theatre is located at 7 Livingston Ave. (near George St.), in New Brunswick.
The show begins at 7:00 p.m. (Doors open at 6:15 p.m.)
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance by visiting www.standup.dojiggy.com or $35 at the door.
