Christie Campaign Has Not Utilized Guadagno Effectively

Kim Guadagno is a new Republican superstar.  She represents the best hope that Chris Christie has of regaining the support of Independent women that he has lost over the past month.

Every morning, as I watch local New York news shows between 6:00 am and 7:00 am, I see a Corzine commercial that basically portrays Chris Christie as a misogynist – a person who hates women.  The commercial is very unfair, but that is the nature of modern television political campaign advertising.

The Christie campaign could very easily counter this portrayal by having a television commercial in which Guadagno talks directly into the camera and says, “I’m Kim Guadagno, Chris Christie’s running mate for Lieutenant Governor.  As a wife, mother, lawyer, and public official, I can tell you that more than almost anybody I’ve met in politics, Chris Christie understands the needs of women meeting the twin challenges of career and family.”

Christie’s best decision in this campaign was his designation of Kim Guadagno as his running mate.  She has a first-rate intellect and superb communication skills.  Her credibility on issues, especially regarding those with special relevance to women, is impeccable.

Yet it appears that the Christie campaign has done everything possible to prevent her from communicating with the media on her own.  They refused to make her available to go on the NJN television show, On The Record, hosted by Michael Aron.  Until recently, it seemed that her campaign appearances were limited to playing a nonspeaking supporting junior partner for Chris Christie as he travelled throughout the state.

The most incredible lost opportunity for Guadagno took place after her superb victory in the Lieutenant Governor debate at Monmouth University on October 8.  It was a moment for Guadagno to bask in the limelight before the statewide media.

Ironically, Guadagno and Chris Christie avoided the press and went out the side door.  Meanwhile, Chris Daggett and his running mate, Frank Esposito stayed and talked to the press, as did Jon Corzine and Loretta Weinberg.  The Christie campaign has had numerous blunders, and this was just another one.  I have a gut feeling, however, that it was not Kim Guadagno’s decision to avoid the press on that stellar night of her career.

As I have said repeatedly, Chris Christie is an ethical and moral man, and he was the greatest U.S. Attorney in modern New Jersey history.  His campaign for Governor, however, has been the worst strategized Republican statewide campaign I have ever seen in the Garden State.  His campaign’s best hope for victory is to utilize Kim Guadagno as the key asset in regaining the support of Independent women who no longer support Chris Christie.

I have little confidence, however, that the Christie political "brain trust" will make maximum use of Kim Guadagno’s skills between now and election day.  Instead, I expect to read stories within a month after the election that the leading two Republican candidates to succeed Jon Corzine in Election 2013 are Kim Guadagno and Steve Lonegan.

Christie is corrupt

The Star Ledger's endorsement of Chris Daggett is great news. I wish the republicans would stop the Bush/Rove Fear mongering. There is obviously a consensus that a vote for Daggett is not a vote for Corzine, except among those who use mass psychological terror to promote their own agendas.

Facts are facts and how you ignore them I don't know.

I say no to Chris Christie because
The Chris Christie mafia connections, multiple multi-million dollar extortion scandals, Illegal campaign finance by Christie and Corzine.

Voting for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.

I can go on and on about both Chris Christie and Jon Corzine. Only voters have the power to change the government. We must refuse to be held captive to the broken two-party system that has brought scandal and corruption and keeps us captive by instilling fear of voting for a third party. Its time to send a message across the country. Its time to end politics as usual.

If you're afraid that a vote for Daggett is a Vote for Corzine, don't be because the polls show Daggett is hurting Corzine and putting Christie ahead.

See this Daggett Hurts Corzine and Helps Christie

You can be sure that you don't waste your vote by making the I'll vote for Dagget pledge.

The Daggett pledge is based on a simple premise, if enough people pledge their vote then you will vote for Daggett

Huh?

And what, pray tell alexhiggins732, does your unsubstantiaed rant have to do with Mr. Steinberg's present column?

Christie is a disaster

It doesn't matter who Christie utilizes to save his sinking campaign. It's like organizing a bucket brigade on the Titanic. Even Joe The Plumber can't plug all the leaks in this campaign.

Christie should hold his election night party in Lakehurst, the scene of the last time a blimp came to New Jersey and crashed.

eternaldemnation...

Hello the entire election and the fact the both the Democratic and Republican Party have voters scared to vote for an alternative.

Mr Steinberg writes:

As I have said repeatedly, Chris Christie is an ethical and moral man, and he was the greatest U.S. Attorney in modern New Jersey history.

Christie moral and ethical? I believe it more if you told me Bush was moral and ethical. Christie is corrupt

The Chris Christie mafia connections.
Christie's multiple multi-million dollar bribe scandals.
Illegal campaign finance by Christie and Corzine.
Voting for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.
The Chris Christie style of justice..

I can go on and on about both Chris Christie and Jon Corzine. The skyrocketing cost of living, the Exodus of jobs, residents, business and income from the state, corrupt politicians from my local municipality, to the county court house, to Trenton all the way to Washington.

Have the balls to endorse someone who isn't going to screw us over for the next 4 years.

USED LONEGAN EVEN LESS

The Christie campaign made a critical decision in June. They decided to "ice out" Lonegan andhis 140,000 Primary supporters.

They took them for granted. "Who else they going to vote for" was their theme.

In politics you never take a group for granted.

Many of those 140,000 have taken the Daggett theme of "its never wrongto vote for the right person" to heart.Chrisite is losing those people and it will cost him the election.

Lonegan and his people are out working to defeat a bond issue, they are not working for Christie.

Christie abandoned them and they are returning the favor.
