Abelow to replace Shea as Chief of Staff

Tom Shea is stepping down as Gov. Corzine’s chief of staff and will be replaced by State Treasurer Bradley Abelow.

Corzine, who told reporters a few weeks ago that he stopped using e-mail, sent a staff e-mail earlier this afternoon alerting his office to the change, which he said he will announce today.

"Tom is an immensely talented and dedicated public servant whom I relied on greatly in both campaigns, as a United States Senator and now as Governor,” wrote Corzine.

Abelow, Corzine wrote “has proven himself to be an outstanding and selfless public servant.

an apolitical Chief of Staff ??

as Abelow has exactly zero political experience for the job in New Jersey that requires the most political know-how, I think he has his work cut out for him. More likely, I think Corzine's deputy COS's (Maggie Moran and Pattie McGuire) are going to see their portfolio increase exponentially.

Clearly, this appointment shows that Corzine is less political (or is it less politcally savvy?) than any of his recent predecessors.  He's chosen a policy wonk for a political job.

Could it Hurt?

After seeing the results of politics trumping policy in the Whitman and McGreevey administrations, having a wonk in charge couldn't hurt.

Jonnie's Chief of Staff

Some Chief Executive!

Needs four people with no experience to run a ship with no rudder for a year and a half and now supposedly the TEAMS HELMSMAN is jumping off.

What a joke and everyone in the Golden Dome knows it but they just keep going and going and going like the bunny – in circles.
