Senator Diane Allen (R-Burlington) today applauded the announcement that two 7th District municipalities have been awarded state forestry grants to assist with tree planting and replacement.
Florence Township and Riverton Borough were awarded a combined $35,000 as part of the Department of Environmental Protection State Forestry Service’s Grant Program. The funding, which will benefit 34 communities across the state, is designed to assist municipalities in implementing forestry management plans.
“These grants will help our local communities maintain a natural beauty that makes them unique, beautiful places to live,” Allen said. “As our communities continue to grow it is important to use smart planning to find ways to protect natural features like existing forests and trees.”

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” - Nelson Mandela- Public Domain
