TRENTON – State cash revenues for the 13-month period ending July 31 were up 6.8 percent over a year ago, according to figures released by the Department of Treasury.
In that time, gross income tax receipts rose 12.6 percent and sales tax receipts were up 4.1 percent, while corporation business tax receipts dipped 2.1 percent, according to the figures. Sales tax collections totaled $798 million in July 2013 and gross income tax collections were up almost $97 million from 2012.
Missing from the revenue report is how recent figures stack up against the administration’s revenue projections.
A Treasury spokesman, Bill Quinn, said the administration is holding off releasing the full figures until it can first determine which revenues will be credited to Fiscal Year 2013 figures verse FY 2014.
“We figured this year we would stick to a more conservative approach,” he said, explaining a complete revenue picture will be released in next month’s revenue report.

"During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."- Nelson Mandela
