Stender: Governor’s Veto Irresponsible to NJ Public Safety Workers
(TRENTON) – Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-Union/Middlesex/Somerset) issued the following after Gov. Christie vetoed legislation (A-1196) she sponsored to ensure workers’ compensation coverage for any death or disability that arises from the physical or psychological impact of stress or injury experienced by a public safety worker engaged in response to a terrorist attack, epidemic or other catastrophic emergency:
“The governor’s absolute veto is grossly irresponsible to the thousands of public safety workers who are there for us at our worst moments. As proven during 9/11 and Superstorm Sandy, they are lifelines for many in distress and as our first line of defense..."
