TRENTON – George Norcross says the reason he’s backing Newark Mayor Cory Booker’s bid for the U.S. Senate is simple.
“He’s going to win,” Norcross responded during a Statehouse news conference Monday when asked by a reporter to explain his decision to back Booker.
The powerful South Jersey Democrat explained Booker and him are better suited ideologically compared to the other Democratic Senate candidates. But more to the point, Norcross said, Democrats need to back someone who will win the seat.
“I think we need to put the best candidate forward,” he said, adding, “The candidate who’s going to win the election.”
Trenton mayoral candidate Walker M. Worthy, Jr. raised more than $75,000 during the most recent fundraising period, boosting his total campaign contributions to date to close to $110,000, according to a written statement issued by his campaign.Read More >
