Gov. Chris Christie didn’t miss an opportunity to blast Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford while at a town hall meeting Wednesday in Morris County — and Langford fired back, saying governor always “puts his foot in his mouth.”
Christie was talking about reforming terminal-leave payment and how people call these payouts for municipal employees’ unused sick and vacation time “boat checks” because they’re big enough to purchase a boat. Christie has sought to tighten these payouts.

Charter school reform, on back burner, starts to heat up again
Talk of revising the state’s charter-school law is picking up again, with one major player now saying that he plans to have a bill ready by spring or early summer.
State Assemblyman Patrick Diegnan (D-Middlesex), chairman of the Assembly’s education committee, said this week that he has sent the broad outline of a bill to the Office of Legislative Services.
