Former Bergen County Law and Public Safety Director Jim Mordaga, a Democrat, is running for sheriff against Mike Saudino, two sources close to Bergen politics tell PolitickerNJ.com.
Mordaga started his career in the sheriff's office before spending over 20 years in the Hackensack Police Department.
After a stint within the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, he spent six years as the director of law and public safety for the county.
