Republican Grossman mulls challenge of Christie

Atlantic County attorney Seth Grossman is mulling a gubernatorial primary run against Gov. Chris Christie and plans to decide as early as next week on his plans.

“I haven’t run since 1991,” said the former Atlantic County Freeholder and Steve Lonegan ally, who in 2008 was arrested in Middle Township 30 minutes after Lonegan while demonstrating outside a Jon Corzine town hall.

“I’ve got the campaign finance rules you need if you’re testing the waters, and I’m testing the waters,” Grossman told PolitickerNJ.com. “I will be making an announcement shortly.”

Grossman is not a Christie fan.

“Why would any Republican in his right mind want to support Chris Christie?” he said. “Republican voters deserve a choice.”

Grossman admitted he’s been closely watching the northern political party landscape to see if someone north of 195 challenges Christie.

“I’m starting with a handicap at milepost 36,” he said.

Educated in the Atlantic City public school system, Grossman went to Duke University and Temple Law School. He was in the  Army National Guard unit at the Atlantic City Armory for 6 years.

He started his own law practice in Atlantic City in 1975.
