www.NJBlackCaucus.org Will Allow Site Visitors to Communicate with Black Caucus Members, Follow Issues Important to the African American Community

TRENTON – Senator Ronald L. Rice, the Chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus, today announced that the Caucus’s website, www.NJBlackCaucus.org, is now live, allowing visitors to communicate with Black Caucus legislators and follow issues that are important to the African American community.

“The Internet had fundamentally changed the way we receive and distribute information,” said Senator Rice, D-Essex.  “By creating an online foothold for the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus, we can make it easier to engage our constituents in a discussion about the issues that matter most to them, and we can direct people to the online resources that are available to help them.  I look forward to the new opportunities for a productive dialogue that this technology  will afford us.”

Senator Rice noted that the new website includes an “Events” section where the Caucus will post information about upcoming events within the Garden State and beyond, a “Members” section where site visitors can view information about Black Caucus legislators and contact those members’ district offices through e-mail, and a “News” section, following the members’ legislative activity in Trenton.

The website also links to New Jersey civil rights organizations, as well as State departments and agencies.

In addition to www.NJBlackCaucus.org, the Legislative Black Caucus (LBC) also produces a weekly cable access television show, “From Trenton to You,” which airs on Cablevision and Comcast, and provides LBC members an opportunity to interact with leaders in the African American community.

“By diversifying our communications outreach, through television and the World Wide Web, we hope to engage a wider group of people in the issues that matter, not only to black New Jersey, but all of New Jersey,” said Senator Rice.  “As we move into the new year, expect a bigger presence from the Legislative Black Caucus on civil rights issues, economic issues, and issues of Statewide importance.”
