Christie still opposes gas tax hike

TRENTON – Gov. Chris Christie has not changed his mind on hiking the state’s motor fuels tax to help pay for damaged public transportation infrastructure in the wake of Hurricane Sandy.

“I still oppose it,” he said during a press briefing today into storm recovery efforts . The governor said this is the “appropriate time for the federal government to step up,” as it did for Louisiana and Mississippi, following Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
