President Barack Obama is in the air over New Jersey surveying damage from Hurricane Sandy.
The president touched down and stepped off Air Force One shortly before 1:15 p.m., according to pool reports. Gov. Chris Christie greeted the president as he came off the plane.
Both men are expected to take an hour-long flight along the Jersey coast and survey the damage from Hurricane Sandy.
President spokesman Jay Carney told reporters Obama already called officials at NYU to thank doctors and nurses who were working during the storm.
