SCHAER PRAISES PLAN FOR NEW SCHOOL IN PASSAIC; SAYS WILL HELP EASE OVERCROWDING IN SCHOOL DISTRICT

(TRENTON) - Assemblyman Gary S. Schaer (D-Berge/Passaic) today welcomed plans by the Schools Development Authority to build a new elementary school in the city of Passaic, which he said will help alleviate lack of space problems in the city's overcrowded public school system.

The Passaic School District has had to lease facilities and utilize trailers to house students due to overcrowding in its schools. The new elementary school will be built on Dayton Avenue in Passaic as part of the Schools Development Authority's school construction projects for 2012.

"This is long-awaited news for students, parents and teachers in the Passaic School District. A new school will help relieve the district's reliance on temporary facilities and prevent further overcrowding, which is not conducive to learning and puts students at a disadvantage," said Schaer.
