NEW ASSEMBLY REPUBLICAN LEADER BRAMNICK ANNOUNCES CAUCUS PRIORITIES FOR 215th LEGISLATURE

Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick said New Jersey taxpayers want the Legislature focused on creating jobs and lowering taxes. Bramnick was joined by other Assembly Republicans as he discussed New Jersey’s priorities at a press conference before the Assembly’s first voting session on Thursday.

Bramnick challenged the Democrats to work with Republicans on making these items Trenton’s top priorities.

“Over the last two years, taxpayers benefited most when the Legislature worked with Governor Christie to control spending and create jobs,” said Bramnick R-Union, Morris and Somerset. “The Legislature needs to address these important issues now, not wait until the next election. Difficult policy decisions still need to be made, but tomorrow’s board list gives no evidence that improving our economy is high priority.

“I respect the Speaker and the Majority Leader, but I think they’ve governed New Jersey in a fiscally irresponsible way,” stated Bramnick. “Their priorities are wrong and they have been wrong for a long time. We’ve seen the painful effects their policies have had on taxpayers and business."

Bramnick noted that since Governor Christie took office, New Jersey has added 62,000 private-sector jobs over the past two years and the property tax cap yielded the lowest increase in two decades.

“Listening to ideas, learning what works and then taking action has proven to be successful,” explained Bramnick. “Improving our economy and putting money back into taxpayers’ pockets should be our top priorities.”

Joining Bramnick were:

• Assembly Conference Leader Dave Rible who spoke about expanding his successful business roundtable across the state.
• Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande outlined the effort for improving opportunities for women in the private sector.
• Assemblyman John Amodeo talked about the importance of the tourism industry in New Jersey.
• Assemblyman Anthony M. Bucco addressed the need to focus on reducing the burden on taxpayers.
• Assembly Dave Wolfe spoke on the value of the property tax cap law.
• Assemblyman John DiMaio talked about the negative effects of raising the income tax on small business and raising the minimum wage.
