LD 2 veteran Myers to run Pascrell's campaign

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell today named Justin Myers as manager of his campaign leading to the 9th Congressional District Democratic primary.

Myers ran state Sen. Jim Whelan's (D-2) successful re-election campaign last year.

“I am extremely proud to have Justin Myers lead our team," Pascrell said. "He’s an incredibly bright guy who has a practical understanding of how to run a successful campaign. His vast experience and political instincts will be tremendous assets to our efforts. I look forward to working with him in the weeks ahead.”

Myers was delighted to work with Pascrell - but infuriated by U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman (D-9).

“I’ve long admired Congressman Pascrell’s record of fighting for the middle class taxpayers of his district,” said Myers.  “It is unfortunate that Congressman Rothman decided to move out of his district and away from the fight Democrats everywhere were hoping he would engage with Tea Party Conservative Scott Garrett, but now he is running in Congressman Pascrell’s district and we are ready for that fight. Congressman Pascrell has already gained the support of elected
officials across the district as well as local and statewide labor organizations spanning from police and fire to the carpenters, plumbers, laborers and pipefitters.  Each of these groups and individuals will be instrumental in our campaign to fight for Congressman Pascrell’s district and get his message out in this election.”

Myers previously worked on races in Long Island, Queens, Manhattan and as the field director for the 2010 campaign of Congressman Jim Himes (D-CT).

He began working in politics while he was a history teacher at Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in New York City.
