Bergen County Freeholder David L. Ganz saw his name on a list of endorsements released by the Pascrell campaign as champions of the Paterson incumbent in the newly forged 9th Congressional District, and threw up his arms in protest.
He's not endorsing Pascrell, Ganz said.
"Both Steve Rothman and Bill Pascrell have served honorably in the United States Congress," the freeholder clarified in a statement. "They are both good Democrats who are the unfortunate victims of a Republican congressional map. I will allow democracy to work and leave the decision in the hands of the residents of the 9th congressional district. I have not and do not plan to endorse either candidate for the June primary."
But Pascrell spokesman Sean Darcy said Ganz was placed on the list of endorsements after speaking with Pascrell last night and agreeing to throw his support to the Passaic congressman.
"It's unfortunate that Freeholder Ganz changed his mind," Darcy said. "He was on our list as a direct result of a conversation with Congressman Pascrell."
